City of York Council is seeking someone to lead on all aspects of Highway Development Control, with a primary focus upon Planning Application and Transport Assessment review.
This critical position will influence the future shape of the city of York; you'll deal with major planning applications, getting involved from the initial stages and pre planning, through to determination of planning applications, securing necessary mitigation and financial contributions. In addition you will play a key role in the determination of many new housing site allocations anticipated to emerge within the next year. This will include the masterplanning of new communities, with an ability to influence the design of the streets and places that they will become.
You will be proficient in terms of your knowledge and experience of residential highway design, best practise and quality of place, streets for all and the public realm. An ability to understand and comprehensively audit Transport Assessments is essential to the role. You will need to ensure that developments are fully mitigated for in transport and highway terms.
Day to day you'll lead a small team, providing to support to colleagues and monitoring and managing the teams work programme. You will attend Planning Committee to provide the highway authority position.
