We wish to recruit a highly motivated solicitor, barrister or CILEX to join our social care team predominantly specialising in adult social care but with flexibility to work across the whole of social care field which encompasses children, and young adults in transition between children’s and adults services.
Demand for support for our most vulnerable residents is high and as a legal service we are working hard with social care colleagues to ensure we fulfil our statutory duties with care and compassion whilst continuously improving and achieving best value.
We offer a broad range of interesting work and as part of a wider legal service you will be at the forefront of big changes as we implement the new Council Plan.
You will excel in our team if you are an experienced lawyer committed to public law, who is keen to provide a high quality service and has a desire to help shape the City of York.
A strong knowledge of Court of protection/deprivation of liberty/Mental Capacity Act 2005 and local authority duties under the Care Act 2014 and Mental Health Act 1983 would be an advantage.
We would also encourage applications from candidates experienced in children’s law who are interested in expanding their expertise with the support of our small and friendly team.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
