The school had received two 'Good' judgements in Ofsted Inspections since its opening, however, last year York High School was placed in special measures predominantly due to the quality of teaching. Our new appointments will have a fundamental role as we start the journey back to 'Good' in 2020.
Working as an apprentice Science Teaching and Technical Assistant you'll provide support to Teachers in preparing for lessons and helping create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all pupils. During lessons you'll work together with the class teacher to support pupils with classroom activities and help to manage behaviour. You will be working with the senior technician to prepare resources and workshops for lessons. Excellent communication and enthusiasm will be key to support all pupils to progress, achieve and overcome any problems. You will support all areas of the curriculum including literacy, numeracy and ICT within the classroom. You'll also accompany teaching staff and pupils on trips and other out-of-school activities.
You'll act as a role model for pupils and be a positive influence on their behaviour and performance at school. Therefore, it's important you demonstrate maturity and excellence in all you do.
37 hours per week, term-time only. This post is fixed term until 22 July 2019.
Normal working hours are Monday to Thursday 8:15 - 16:15 & Friday 8:15 - 15:45.
Intermediate level apprenticeships will last for a minimum 12 months, and as well as providing an NVQ at level 2 and key skills qualifications (if needed) during this period, it will also give experience of working in a varied role in a diverse organisation. There may be opportunity to progress to an advanced level apprenticeship but this is not guaranteed.
Due to the eligibility criteria for this apprenticeship, we can only accept applications from those who do not already hold qualifications at the same or higher level, in this area of work.
To be eligible for an apprenticeship in England, you must have been resident in the UK or an EEA country for at least three years, and hold the right to work.
