City of York Council is seeking someone to lead on all aspects of the adoptions component of Highway Development Control, working closely with the wider team, to provide a seamless service from pre planning through to timely adoption of new developments.
This critical position will influence the future shape of the city of York; you'll deal with the technical approval of multiple developments including several which will be built over at least the next decade. There will also be the opportunity to work on masterplanning and helping to shape internal layouts.
You will be proficient in terms of your knowledge and experience of highway design, construction, and drainage, with a particular emphasis upon the creation and build of residential developments. In addition, the scope of work will include commercial, leisure and retail development and works to the existing highway. You will apply best practise to secure quality of place, balanced with securing robust specifications and minimising future liabilities. An ability to comprehensively audit technical drawings requiring section 38 and section 278 approvals, application of fees and ensuring that the legal agreements are sound, pragmatic and monitored.
Day to day you'll lead a small team, providing to support to colleagues and monitoring and managing the teams work programme. You will be proactive both at key meetings with developers and their consultants and in inspecting works on the ground, to ensure that the required standards are being achieved.
