City of York Council is seeking to recruit a full time Social Worker to join our Fostering Team.
The Fostering team identifies suitable placements for children and young people and provides individually tailored and creative packages of support to these foster carers and placements. Knowledge of fostering is essential.
The fostering team supports carers who offer Short Breaks for disabled children, skills and knowledge of this service user group is essential
This position would be suitable for a newly qualified social worker ( grade 8 ) or an experienced social worker( grade 9) with the relevant knowledge and experience.

We require the successful candidates to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
The post holder will have access to secure government sites or email. In order to use these systems, the Cabinet Office requires the HR Team to carry out Baseline Personnel Standard Security (BPSS) checks.
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express him/herself spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
The post requires a qualified Social Worker who is currently registered with the HCPC.
