We are looking for a highly motivated enthusiastic, committed and self driven individual with excellent communication and customer care skills to join our team of Leisure Assistants at Energise as apprentices.
As part of your Leisure Operations Level 2 you will gain qualifications as a professional Lifeguard and Swimming Teacher, as well as other leisure based qualifications that will give you an excellent standing for your future career
The successful apprentice will join our dedicated team of Leisure Assistants, and will be an integral part of the running of the centre.
Duties will include:
* Assisting with the supervision and teaching of swimming and other activities, including running activities for children
* Assisting the management team and reception staff in the administrative running of the centre by undertaking periodic reception duties including cash handling, dealing with customer queries, dealing with deliveries and taking inventories.
* Assisting first aid in line with the training undertaken
* Undertaking regular health and safety checks of designated areas.
* Assisting in the setting up of areas according to the requirements of the Centre's programme.
The skills required are:
* Be physically fit to carryout lifeguarding training/duties which includes ability to swim to the deepest part of the pool and swim 50m in under 60 seconds. Manual handling includes moving sporting equipment and potentially unconscious people.
* Successful candidate will attend a National Pool Lifeguard course to gain the qualification
* Be able to work as part of a dynamic team.
* Be able to demonstrate an ability to deal professionally with sales and enquiries made by the public and to work accurately under pressure.
* IT literate
* Knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 & ability to apply it in the workplace.
* Be able to apply the knowledge gained from any leisure related studies.
* Experience of working with children
Intermediate level apprenticeships will last for 12 months, and as well as providing an NVQ at level 2 and key skills qualifications (if needed) during this period it will also give experience of working in a varied role in a diverse organisation. There may be opportunity to progress to an advanced level apprenticeship but this is not guaranteed.
Due to the eligibility criteria for this apprenticeship, we can only accept applications from those who do not already hold qualifications at the same or higher level, in this area of work.
