City of York Council are seeking to recruit a Assistant Service Manager to join the Hospital Social Work Team
The Hospital Social Work Team has recently made some changes to how it operates to work in a more integrated way with health, to help support safe and timely discharges from acute and non acute hospital. This is an exciting time and opportunity to join the team and be involved with some of the changes moving forward.
In the role of Assistant Service Manager you will be responsible for contributing to the day to day management of an extremely busy and productive team. You will be required to report on the daily delayed transfers of care for acute and non acute, allocation of work, supervision of staff, performance and development reviews, and have oversight of the allocation of residential and nursing beds within the city. You will attend daily and weekly meetings relevant to the post. You will work very closely with Discharge Liaison to discuss internal referrals and facilitate discharges.
The successful candidate will hold a relevant professional qualification in Social Work, and will be enthusiastic, organised and able to work within a fast moving environment. Experience of management and supervision of staff would be beneficial.
The role would require candidates to be HCPC registered; undertake Criminal Record check via DBS and eligible to work in the UK.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express him/herself spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
