We have a rare opportunity for a solicitor to join our strong and supportive social services (People) team to represent the Council on a wide range of issues relating to child protection matters.
In York ‘our children matter’ and experience and thorough knowledge of child protection is essential for this role so therefore you will be a qualified solicitor or barrister.
It’s a challenging role and you will need to manage your own caseloads to meet changing demands and deadlines however support will be provided when you need it by a dedicated and experienced management team. In addition you will have access to a legal officers who can provide day to day assistance and will be part of a team of like-minded legal professionals.

We are looking for a talented and motivated professionals who are looking to expand their knowledge and skills whilst supporting the council to achieve our key priorities.
You may have built your career and experience by working in the public sector but we also welcome applications from candidates who have not worked in the local government legal sector before, those who are looking for a career change or those who may be returning to work after a break.
