We are working in partnership with York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority and are seeking a talented Procurement Category Manager to oversee our strategic sourcing and procurement activities for the Combined Authority.
The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority (the Combined Authority) was established as a new organisation in early 2024, led by the elected York and North Yorkshire Mayor, David Skaith and Cabinet which covers two local authority areas of York and North Yorkshire. It is a public sector employer with access to powers and funding to unlock transport and housing improvements, boost skills provision and help the economy transition to net zero for York and North Yorkshire.
The Mayor also holds responsibilities in relation to Policing, Fire and Crime.

You’ll be responsible for managing complex programmes and procurement, supporting the development of the procurement strategy, and driving the category strategy through the procurement function.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing procurement processes, be aware of the current changes in legislation, category management, and creating supplier and stakeholder relationships.

This role is a hybrid role and enables flexibility and management of your own diary. The starting salary for this post is a Grade 10 Level 1 - 4 (£40,964 to £46,412 per annum) which can increase to Grade 11, Level 1 – 4 (£47,760 to £54,463 per annum) subject to internal review based on your experience, skills and capability. The appointment offer will be based on experience and capability.
This post is fixed term, with a current expiry date of 31st March 2027, with the option to extend for a further 2 years if the contract with the Combined Authority is extended.

Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process.
