The Housing Options and Support Team at York City Council are looking to appoint 3 Full time Housing Options Workers.
These are permanent posts, to work as part of the Housing Options Team to deliver support and legal duties under the Homeless Reduction Act 2017, including general advice, prevention, relief and main duty decisions, to those who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness.
The role;
You will be dealing with prevention and relief case work in office, home and community settings.
The role will focus on preventing and relieving homelessness and proactively exploring housing solutions for people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness in line with legislation, policy and process.
You will manage an active caseload and be responsible for legal duties and decisions in accordance with legislation (Housing Act 1996 and Homeless Reduction Act 2017).

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
