We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Officer who will be responsible for the delivery and implementation of the 'Strengthening Local Government Delivery of the Covenant' project. This is a partnership project between the City of York Council and Hambleton District Council, North Yorkshire County Council, Scarborough Borough and Richmondshire District Council local authorities that have all signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant, a commitment to ensure that the Armed Forces community do not face disadvantage.
The project aims to:
* Increase knowledge about the Armed Forces Community and their needs through new research,
* working strategically across the local authorities involved in the project to ensure systematic and coordinated delivery of all aspects of the project,
* Improve awareness and response to the Covenant through widely delivered, quality training,
* Implement improved activity and services that support the Covenant through the promotion and sharing of information, knowledge and best practice.
You will possess excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate, whilst working collaboratively in partnership with a wide range of community and statutory organisations. You will work creatively to find solutions and develop approaches to deliver this exciting project with an excellent understanding of engagement practices. You will have a proven track record of planning and implementation, with excellent self-management skills and a sound knowledge of project management.
This is a fixed term contract until 31 March 2019.
This post is based in West Offices, York - however as the project is a partnership between a number of other local authorities, it is anticipated that flexible working arrangements will be in place between the authorities.
