City of York Council has a fantastic development opportunity as an Assistant Highway Engineer in our busy Highway Adoptions team.
We are looking for candidates who may already hold qualifications in civil engineering, highway construction or other related disciplines or who are looking to work towards a civil engineering or equivalent qualification, potentially through an apprenticeship. Some experience of working in the highway sector or the construction industry would also be useful.
You will support the team’s engineers and inspectors with highway adoptions related tasks including reviewing drawings against highway standards, identifying constriction issues on site and working with our engineers to address these issues, preparing legal agreements, calculating fees and charges and inspecting sites where new roads, paths and highway structures are being constructed.
As a hybrid worker, you will be working from the office and from home but also attend regular site visits and meetings.
