Do you want to play a key part in the delivery of “the UK’s most ambitious council-led housing programme in a generation”?
The City of York Council’s Housing Delivery Programme is receiving national attention for its commitment to building great new places to live which are inclusive, healthy, and good for the environment. (See link: 'This is the Everest of zero carbon' – inside York's green home revolution | Architecture | The Guardian)
We are looking for an enthusiastic Project Manager to join our team, who will work alongside Stirling Prize winning architects Mikhail Riches to design zero carbon new neighbourhoods. Our projects look to provide affordable homes in an integrated way alongside homes for first time buyers, growing families and those in retirement.
You will join a highly motivated and supportive team, working on all aspects of the projects, from inception, through to public engagement and design, planning and procurement, and construction and handover.
We don’t expect you to be an expert on all aspects of project management, but good partnership and contract management skills are key to the success of our programme. Training and support will be provided.
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you- come and join our housing revolution!
Please indicate in the supporting statement of your application if you are applying for the permanent or fixed term vacancy or both.
The Council is highly committed to investing in the talent and wellbeing of our staff and can offer a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, comprehensive Health & Wellbeing initiatives and a reward package which recognises your contribution. We can offer flexible working practices, community engagement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous Learning & Development. In addition we also offer a growing range of discounts, rewards and savings.
At the moment due to the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, some of our staff are working remotely from home but a return to a combination of working remotely and physically from the Council’s offices is anticipated in the near future.
As a new starter, your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team. Your working arrangements will vary according to your service and role, and the current Government guidance. For many roles, there will be more opportunities in the future for remote and hybrid working. However, this comes with the expectation that, as workplaces open up, there is likely to be an ongoing and occasional requirement to attend the workplace.
For further information, or an informal discussion, please contact Sophie Round (Housing Delivery Programme Manager) at sophie.round@york.gov.uk or on 07936 341 029.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
