Benefits

Flexible Working Arrangements
The Council operates a flexitime scheme which applies in most departments.  However, a small number of posts have fixed working hours due to the nature of the service provided.  The standard working week for full-time employees is 37.
Most full-time posts are open to job-sharing.  This is where two people share the hours and duties of a post and also the pay and conditions.  Staff can apply for job sharing on their own and we make every effort to find to find a job-sharing partner.

Employee Development and Training
Employees are encouraged to develop skills and knowledge related to their work and career development.  The Council runs a programme of in-house training and development courses for all staff.  The Council will consider supporting any employee to attend training and/or further education courses relevant to their current post.

Sick Pay
Employees under the NJC bargaining group are entitled to receive sick pay for the following periods:
· During first year of service:
1 months full pay and (after 4 months pay) 2 months half pay.
· During second year of service:
2 months full pay and 2 months half pay.
· During third year of service:
4 months full pay and 4 months half pay.
· During fourth and fifth years service:
5 months full pay and 5 months half pay.
· After five years service:
6 months full pay and 6 months half pay.

Annual Leave
Full-time employees have a minimum of 24 days' holiday, rising to 29 days after 5 or more years' local government service.
This may differ slightly for different groups (i.e. Teachers, Soulbury)
There are normally eight public holidays per annum.

Pensions
